C. Wess Daniels has been the released minister at Camas Friends Church since May 2009. Wess enjoys the work of pastoral care within a Quaker meeting.
You can find his blog at gathering in light.
He was born in Canton, Ohio and is the oldest (and cutest) of nine siblings. His favorite past time when he was a kid was either building robots out of construx or making homemade movies using all his siblings to be various characters in the movies.
He has a BA from Malone College in Bible and Theology, a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and is currently working on his PhD in the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller. He hopes to one day teach Quaker Theology and Contemporary Culture, while still serving in pastoral ministry.
He loves to write (you can read his sermons here) when he can steal some time. He leads workshops and does speaking engagements on Quaker history and theology, and mission in contemporary culture. He is motivated by God’s heart and care for the disenfranchised in our society.
He has been happily married since 2001 and has three lovely children. Among Wess’ many interests are dancing with his daughters, biking, hiking, watching documentaries and off-beat movies, drinking coffee at cafe piccolo in Camas, and when he can get away, visiting Powell’s bookshop.
Wess is committed to the way of radical love and justice, which was perfectly embodied in Jesus Christ.
Hi Wess,
Nice to see you again at God Pub last night. Henry said you will be doing a discussion on Richard Rohr’s book. I am very interested in joining. Please let me know when the discussion group may form and the dates. Henry said probably Wed. nights. I have youth group then but could maybe work something out. My personal email is howardjaart@yahoo.com. Have a great day. James Howard (I was sitting between Henry and Shelly).
I visited Camas Friends today…when is the next God Pub meeting?
Julie Heidingsfelder
Hi Julie, I just sent you an email in response.
I remember knowing a skinny kid named Wess with a few basketball skills but no lung power to play the game – and now on a Saturday night 20+ years later I find myself reading your blogs on the Internet! And a pastor at a Friends church! I’m also now a member of the Alliance Friends Church – hope our paths get to cross again. Good to find you alive and well in cyberspace! Particularly enjoyed reading your thoughts on Mark 2:1-12 and breaking down walls that keep outsiders outside the church.
Hey Pete!
Nice to hear from you and funny how you ran into my writings! I’m glad to hear you’re still at Alliance First Friends and trust all is well with you and your family.
Wess
