Peace Playhouse Starts Today

Today begins our three-day Peace Playhouse, an annual tradition here at Camas Friends. It’s great to see all the kids here (we’re doing younger kids as well as 4-6th graders). And it’s also great to see all the people from our meeting here to volunteer and help with the kids. There’s still space for older kids too if you want to join us. Pictures to come soon.

Peace Playhouse At Camas Friends Is Upon Us

For the past 3 years Camas Friends has been putting on a 3 day camp for young people called Peace Playhouse. Instead of offering the standard vacation Bible school the Camas Quakers put their heads together and created a camp that focuses on learning how to have peace with self, with others and with the earth. Through various activities such as gardening, art, singing, yoga, journaling and other hands on activities we work with young people to help them learn skills for living peaceful lives.

Meeting House closed this Sunday // CFC is Headed To Portland

Just a quick reminder that we are worshipping with Multnomah Monthly Meeting this Sunday. If you would like to car pool with us please meet us here at the meetinghouse at 9am on Sunday morning. There will be no meeting for worship this week in our building.

Multnomah Meeting
[Stark Street Meetinghouse]

4312 S.E. Stark Street
Portland, Oregon 97215

(503) 232-2822

For parking we have the use of the Mazama parking lot next door to the meeting house – corner of 43rd and Stark.  If the lot is full, there is plenty of parking on the street.

We should plan to arrive about 09:45.  It is about a half hour drive from Camas.

The nursery is on the first floor downstairs to the left of the front entrance and the preschool through middle schoolers join silent worship upstairs for the first 15 minutes and then meet upstairs in the classroom wing.

Members from Multnomah Meeting will be there to greet and guide folks to the right places.

Communal Queries for Shared Worship

1.   How do we prepare our hearts and minds for worship?

2.    Are our gatherings for silent communal worship held in a spirit of expectant waiting and communion with the Holy Spirit?

3.   Is there a living silence into which we feel drawn together by the presence of God?

4.   How do we integrate what happens in our silent communal worship into our daily lives?  Do we seek opportunities for worship outside of communal silence?

5.   Where do we, programmed and un-programmed, see ourselves in each other.
