Camas Friends Church

A Quaker Meeting in Camas, WA

Upcoming September Events At Camas Friends

There will be a Godly Play seminar this weekend, Friday and Saturday. This training will provide a better understanding of the Godly Play format and teach the basics of the story-teller and door-keeper roles.

This Sunday, September 13, will be our quarterly meeting for worship and business. We will have committee meetings at 4 pm and the business meeting at 6 pm. There will be a finger food potluck before the business meeting, about 5:30.

On Sunday, September 27, Dr. Carole Spencer (from George Fox Seminary) will be leading us in worship.

Also on the 27th, we will be having a movie night at church. We will be showing “An Inconvenient Truth.” This is to help kick off the fall series on sustainable living. Those classes will be starting again on October 8. There will also be a coffee bar to go with the movie.

First Friends Church in Vancouver is hosting the Marriage Course, a seven session course for any married or cohabitating couple, whether your relationship is strong or you are struggling. The course is September 20 – November 8 on Sundays at 3 pm. Childcare is provided and the cost for the course is $45. To register, please call First Friends at 360-695-4455.

There will be a Friends Women retreat, October 1-4, 2009 at Twin Rocks Friends Camp “Ladies from all across Northwest Yearly Meeting are invited to join us at this delightful retreat. It will be a time of rest, renewal and reconnecting with God and friends from Oregon, Washington and Idaho. There will also be four presidents visiting from other yearly meetings. A new time planned is the “Craft Event” (beading, scrapbooking, quilting and other crafts). Betty Southard will be speaking about creating a legacy. Registration brochures are available at the church office or online at nwfriends.org/friends-women. Or you can email clanrice@aol.com for more information.”

On October 4, Ashley Wilcox and Sarah Peterson, the co-clerks of Pacific Northwest Quaker Women’s Theology Conference will be joining us. Sarah Peterson will be guest preaching. We will have a potluck that Sunday and they will give us a presentation on their work with PNQWTC.

There will be a Lasting Relationships Couples Workshop in Camas at the Liberty Middle School. It will be a 4 session series from October 12 – November 2 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. The cost is $15 per couple and childcare is still to be announced.
