Preparation for Sunday: Luke 21:1-5

Good Afternoon Friends,

I hope this email finds you all well.

This Sunday we’re covering a short very simple passage from the Gospel of Luke. I want to follow Mavis’ talk and discuss the theme of thankfulness.

Luke 21:1–4

“He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

Queries:

  • What strikes you about this passage?
  • Does this passage remind you of an experience in your own life? Who do you identify with in the story?
  • How might this passage relate to the topic of thankfulness?
  • Can you think of other words that have to do with thankfulness?

Grace and Peace,
Wess
