The Camas Friends Church Peace and Social Concerns Committee invites you to participate in a special Christmas offering.
On December 22nd, during our meeting for worship and Children’s Christmas Program, we will take an offering in support of Pedro Sosa, who works for the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and leads the Project Voice Immigrant Rights Program. Pedro movingly spoke at CFC on November 17th. We would like to express our support for him and the work he is doing in the Pacific Northwest.
Please make any checks for this offering out to Camas Friends Church (with “AFSC” in the memo line). If you cannot be present on the 22nd but wish to donate, please make your donation before the 22nd (just clarify in your giving that your donation should go to Pedro/AFSC).
We invite anyone who wishes to support the work of Pedro and Project Voice to participate in this offering, whether you worship with Camas Friends or just feel like partnering with us for this particular cause.
About Project Voice:
“The Project Voice Immigrant Rights Program enhances the ability of immigrants to affirm their human rights and impact public policies that affect them.
Project Voice conducts Know Your Rights training with immigrants in Oregon and Washington. Our dynamic popular education workshops incorporate up to the minute practical and legislative information. Through this initiative, thousands of immigrants have gained deeper understanding of their rights, and are empowered to uphold them.
The project develops new leaders by providing in-depth training and capacity building support for immigrant groups seeking to develop skills in strategic planning, community organizing and policy advocacy. Our technical assistance and resources lay a strong foundation for immigrants seeking to take center stage in mobilizing their communities, educating the public and advocating with public officials.
We put a human face on the complex immigration debate, mobilizing demonstrations, speaking out in the media and urging legislators to adopt just and humane immigration policies.”
