Matt Boswell, Pastor of Camas Friends
Greetings! I am grateful to have been a part of Camas Friends Church since October 2015, along with my wife Joann and daughters Clara and Renee (and Teddy as of November 2016).
I completed my PhD in Christian Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union (Berkeley, CA) in October 2016. My work focused especially on spiritual formation, theories of love and hope, and virtue ethics. We now live near Forest Home Park, just over a mile from Camas Friends Church. I am now awaiting the publishing of my first book: a revised version of my dissertation entitled The Way to Love.
I am grateful to be pastoring at CFC. This Quaker meeting (congregation) is a wonderful expression of Christian spirituality that values justice, peace, mysticism, diversity, tradition, mystery, listening, inclusion, community, and participation. CFC practices an enticing, caring, and hopeful spirituality which I am excited to participate in, nurture, and magnify.
I also get excited about my family and friends, exercise and cooking and eating, learning new things, binge-watching Netflix shows with Joann, following Seattle Mariners baseball (definitely not with Joann), McMenamins frequenting, buying new books, being in nature, and waking up early but hitting the snooze button once (sometimes twice).
