The Hard Truth
Queries:
Who are the truthtellers–or what are the truths–that our world is ignoring?
Why do people become violent? Why do people have difficulty with criticism?
What helps people more graciously and fearlessly listen to critical feedback?
Where is brave truthtelling needed? Where do I need to give loving feedback?
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Queries:
How am I responding to today’s scripture?
What does it look like to follow Jesus’ example amid unjust suffering?
Where have we lost the way of Love? How can we return to it?
How can people survive impossible situations? How have I survived?
How can we practice nonviolent resistance, today? Why choose this path?
Our Hearts Burning (Guest Speaker: Rachel Wheeler)
Rachel Wheeler is Associate Professor and Chair of the Theology and Religious Studies Department at the University of Portland where she teaches ecospirituality, religion and ecology, and the arts as spiritual formation. She is author of several books, the most recent of which is Radical Kinship: A Christian Ecospirituality. She grew up near the Pacific Ocean and is fond of coastal places.
Arise, My Love
Queries:
What does this scripture highlight or clarify for me?
How do I identify with either character?
What invitation or encouragement can I give to someone this week?
What do I need to help me “arise…and come away”?
What good and beautiful things am I being invited to cherish and protect?
Everything Rising
Why should we care about the resurrection? Where is the ministry of Jesus most needed today? How can we participate in the Love that is rising up and making all things new?
